Starting this Wednesday May 18th at 6AM we will be meeting at 119th 8th street for our morning ride to Bear Mountain. On Any Sunday - Reviewed

Bruce Brown directs what is the endless summer of motorcycle movies, "On Any Sunday." Men on Motorcycle racing (and I mean seriously racing) on dirt, asphalt, salt and even ice. Back in the 70's, America liked its porn funky and its motorcycle racers made of steel. At least 4 times during this movie they mention the racer taking of some cast holding whatever broken part of their body off in order to race at 120 plus miles on a dirt course. Don't worry I didn't give anything way - this is only the subplot of the movie "like Homer trying to find Lincoln's Gold."

Brown follows a few racers through their journey to being #1 on the AMA riding tour. Cutting back and forth between the average rider and the professional he paints a picture of the ridiculous things people do in the name of motorcycling. The Hill Climbing segment makes the most sense in the context of the movie - a bunch of hillbillies trying to ride a motorcycle up and over a hill that no body has ever been able to get over. Finally, one biker makes it over after 7 years of people trying for the sole purpose of motorcycling.

Like Endless Summer, Brown leaves it open - with the declaration that riding makes no sense but in the same way perfect sense because people do it because they love it. Its a Love Story between Man and Bike - instead of Boy and Girl. Like Shakespear - Brown's love story does nothing but document the crazy acts of people in love. Obvious out comes do not deter you from watching - more importantly it brings you closer to anybody who have ever been in love with a motorcycle.

First Time Stunt Double

Its was only a few seconds on screen but it was a lot of fun. I spent the afternoon hanging out with John Ficarra from CreativeFilmCars.com - he brought the ice cream truck and his 1050 Triumph.

He took these pictures of me pulling up to the truck and taking off my helmet for my close-up. Actually you'll never see my face - they guy I was stunting/standing in for looks like an Italian version of the Smiths from the Matrix.

Its been a long winter and Jupiter's has been working on a couple things. First off we opened a second location in California, serving Los Angeles and Orange County. In addition, we added pickup services for those flying in any of the local airports - LAX, LGB and SNA.

Next, Jupiter's Brooklyn has added a couple services such as delivery anywhere within the five boroughs. Also we will be launching Jupiter's MotoShare which saves you local riders the rental tax but combines the convenience with renting with the accessibly of owning.

1. Where are you located? We have two locations, one in New York

, and one in Orange County, CA serving the Los Angeles Metro Area.

3. Where can I ride, where can I drop off the motorcycle? You can ride anywhere you want. You can drop it off at either of our two locations. At the moment, we do not offer delivery, or pick-up, from any other locations…but we’re working on that too.

4. If my buddy flies in to town, and I want to go on a ride with him, but I already have my own motorcycle, can we come rent one for my buddy from Jupiter’s? Yes, that’s exactly what we’re here for.

Jupiter's and Love for the Metisse

Jupiter’s was at the International Motorcycle Show in Long Beach this past weekend. Although we rent only BMW’s, here at Jupiter’s we’re big fans of café style racer’s, as well as old school dirt bike’s, and pretty much anything Steve McQueen.

The King of Cool’s fave bike was on display at Southern California Triumph; the Metisse Triumph/BSA hybrid dirt bike the moded himself along with the help of his friend Bud Ekins Apparently Southern California Triumph is selling the hybrid bike that McQueen used to ride and love.

This thing is a beauty, as far as I recalled, these kind of old school dirt bikes were usually pieced together by whoever was riding them; with parts from Triumph, BSA, and other random but light and inexpensive parts. Basically, they were taking road bikes and mod-ing them to fit a dirt bike ride experience.

We haven’t gotten a chance to do a lot of dirt bike riding here at Jupiter’s, but we sure do covet it, and we covet pretty much anything The King of Cool did. So we’ll get on it real soon.In the meanwhile, I guess we could always get this Metisse:

Charles "Killer from the UK" Rides Right

So I had the pleasure of meeting Charles in person late Saturday night when for reasons beyond my control the G650GS he was riding developed a small oil leak and needed to be traded out for the the F650GS.

In good spirits about the whole thing we got to talking that night as he crash with me in Carrol Gardens.

A true Adventure Biker Charles gave me a copy of Chris Scott's Adventure Motorcycling Handbook - something I have wanted to buy but could never find in paper back in the stores. If you are a purest you will understand to purchase such an item in person not in a store. As a result his gift to me of this book will mean that much more when you plan our NYC to Chile Adventure.

Problems are apart of any journey whether in life or on the road. How we relate ourselves to them and carry on is the key to a happy and full life. Charlie understood that - not only in our conversations about riding but how he carries himself in life.

I am fortunate for having met him and am the better for it. Thanks

After stopping for food week took 9W up to Seven Lakes. The back roads through the state park were amazing - some were actually a bit challenging.

Bas was visiting from the Netherlands and decided to use Jupiter's to do some exploring. For a week Bas traveled throughout New York City, New England and into Canada.

Motorcycling is a great way to see the area around New York (NYC) and meet people as you do it that also love to ride.

So I had the pleasure of meeting Guy on one of his last days in NYC. Having lived here for the last 12 year, Guy and his family are on the move to Zurich. Having owned and ridden a bike from many years - like many others had to let it go when living in NYC.

Thankfully through Jupiter's I got a chance to meet him and his buddy Marek. Other incredible guys that just love to ride.

So on his last day Guy "the Beast" took off on a Harley and enjoyed the city one more time - like a beast on the back of a Harley.

After riding on somebody's lawn he returned home to share the joy with not only his door man but his beautiful family - who like most caring families probably prefer he rents than ride everyday in NYC.

Alian sent me this image yesterday as the exited NY state and started their way through PA.

Alian, who is now a resident of NYC and his buddy Francesco are from Itialia. Like the beast (Zidan) they headed out of the country to find greener pastures. That was lame - I'm sorry.

I'll stop now.

NYC to LA - The boys are on their way...

So Alian and Francesco are on their way from New York to Los Angeles. They left on Monday for a 2 week ride across America. After cramming what little belongings they had brought on their motorcycles and Quite Riot "Bang Your Head" blairing in the background, they started off on what I'm sure will be a fantastic trip.
